Family dynamics are very important. Clearly being the youngest child has formed me into the person I am today. What happens when one has two dogs who form their own family dynamic?
My two dogs Cody and Chloe were very close. We got Chloe when Cody was 8 years old. Chloe never spent one single minute of her life alone without Cody. She was totally dependent upon Cody to the point that she never reacted to anything without first glancing at Cody and then mimicking his behavior. If the mailman came to the house and Cody barked , Chloe barked. If he was quiet, she was quiet. When Cody passed away, Chloe became a lost soul and could not be left alone for several months without crying. She exuded so much sadness and was very lost. Her rock had broken and was gone. Somehow, the family unity that I have always had, was parallel to Cody and Chloe’s internal canine family bond. I left home to college to find my own footsteps as Chloe has had to create her new independent path as well. |
